Task 2 - How to Add/Use Discord Bot

Discord is a voice chat program with many users worldwide. In addition to voice chat, you can use various functions such as multimedia and text chat. Recently, with the addition of a system called a “Discord bot”, you can make your Discord experience more fun.

There are a variety of Discord bots. Some of them serve as an administrator in the server to manage the server. others bring some fun by adding mini-games to the server.

In this part, we will learn how to add a useful Discord administrator bot and how to use some of the general functions of the bot.

1. Create a Discord Administrator Bot

1-1. Create Discord Server

First, you need a server with administrator privileges to add the Discord bot. Click Add Server.

If you have an already created server, you can start from 1-4.

1. Start by by uploading a representative image of the Discord server.

2. Enter the name of your Discord server.

3. Click Create to create a Discord Server.

1-3. Check Discord Server Administrator Privileges

Only people with a crown next to their name or have server privileges can add discord bots to this server. If you can edit the server, this proves that you have permission.

Access the Discord bot site to create a Discord bot. There are many bots on the Discord bot site that not only provide administrator bots, but also various bots that give various pleasures to using Discord.

1-5. Connect to Discord server

As an example, let's add the famous MEE6 bot. Click Add to Server.

1-6. Grant bot admin privileges

First, select the Discord server you want to add the bot and click the Continue button.

You can successfully add the Discord bot to the server by checking to enable admin privileges and clicking OK.

1-7. Check the added Discord bot

See which Discord chat room participants are online. If you're able to see that the bot is online, you have successfully added the bot to the server.

2. How to use the Discord Bot

2-1. Check Discord Bot Commands

To use the basic Discord bot, just enter the '/' command. The below image is a command of MEE6, a Discord bot, and the commands of Discord bots may be different.

By using MEE6's shortcut commands, we can search for videos on youtube, search for words in Urban dictionary, search for manga on Kitsu.io and so on.

2-3. More fun commands

Go to MEE6 website page. We can see that a lot of features for our bot can be set up here and implemented in our server. Below we show how to create reaction roles in our server.

2. After that, enter the title, messages, color, author and photo that you want to display.

3. The next step is to add the reaction emoji and role names (Below picture aleady given two reaction).

4. When you have finished all the settings, choose the channel you want to send and click the save button.

5. Finally, the question will be automatically generated in the channel.

6. When a member selects an emoji, the member's role will be assigned to this group.
